"The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure buried in a field, which a person finds and hides again, and out of joy goes and sells all that he has and buys that field. Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant searching for fine pearls. When he finds a pearl of great price, he goes and sells all that he has and buys it."

- Mt 13:44-46

FESTIVAL OF JOY IN THE LORD

For many, rain is a sign of sadness, yet every rainbow begins with rain.  God said in Ecclesiastes that there are times for sorrow, but also times for joy.  At Christmas, we celebrate not only family and gifts, but the joy of the divine birth of a baby in a stable.  Easter celebrates not only the end of Lenten fasts, but the joy of Christ’s resurrection and victory over death and sin.  Every feast, every Mass, every sacrament, every joy finds its beginnings in the very author of all joys.  May we always remember in times of despair that every rainbow begins with rain, that every fast ends in a festival.
