In 1936 the Catholic faith community of New London began as a mission church of St. Helena's of Enfield. The group came together to worship on Sundays and holy days in what is presently the Kearsarge SAU office on Main St in New London. In October of 1952 Our Lady of Fatima Parish was formally established. In December of that year Immaculate Conception was dedicated and thereafter became a mission of Our Lady of Fatima.
Fifteen years later Our Lady of Fatima's newly constructed church, on its current site, was dedicated. This 1967 building was completely renovated and rededicated on December 7, 1997.
Today the faith community of Our Lady of Fatima and Immaculate Conception Parish encompasses approximately 16 towns, and attempts to live out the words of our former pastor, Richard Lower: "Our newly renovated house of prayer reflects the beauty and simplicity of this tranquil spot in New England. All the light and warmth signify that we are a community of welcome. We embrace all that wish to enter here and worship in prayer and song."
We have begun a new chapter in the life of our faith community with the arrival in June 2003 of our new pastor, Fr. Robert Biron.
