They were overjoyed at seeing the star, and on entering the house they saw the child with Mary his mother. They prostrated themselves and did him homage. Then they opened their treasures and offered him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. - Mt 2:10-11

“MY LIFE WITH THE SAINTS”

DISCUSSION SERIES

This week’s saint:  Ignatius of Loyola

Join us in the parish library on Friday, January 9th at 9:45am immediately after the Communion Service to listen, discuss and learn about St. Ignatius of Loyola.  Most know him for being the founder of the Society of Jesus (the Jesuits).  But perhaps his written work of The Spiritual Exercises, a handbook of practices on prayer, on the human condition, on God’s love and on the life of Jesus, is what has remained his timeless gift to all who seek a closer relationship with God.  For additional information, call Joyce, 526-2672.

Dear Wonderful Parishioners,

Without a penny to start with you came thru amazingly.  We did not have a lot of food donated but the money came in from those who have never donated before.  The workers and doers were their outstanding selves and we provided food for 70 families, 148 adults and 135 children.  Fundafeast from Hannafords was welcome as was the services from the Market Basket (pricey though!!).  The bill was $1,928.25, so Loaves & Fishes had to bail us out for $256.85.  “What a Parish”!!!  Thank you anyone who gave in any way.             Anna

PRAYER FOR PEACE

Lord Jesus Christ.  You who are, the Prince of Peace, who are Yourself our peace and reconciliation, who so often said, “Peace to you,” grant us peace.  Make all men and women witnesses of truth, justice and brotherly love.  Banish from their hearts whatever might endanger peace.  Enlighten our rulers that they may guarantee and defend the great gift of peace.  May all the peoples of the earth become as brothers and sisters.  May longed – for peace blossom forth and reign always over us.  Amen.
