"He said to one of them in reply, 'My friend, I am not cheating you. Did you not agree with me for the usual daily wage? Take what is yours and go. What if I wish to give this last one the same as you? Or am I not free to do as I wish with my own money? Are you envious because I am generous?' Thus the last will be first, and the first will be last."  - Mt. 20:13-16

NEEDED COOK(S) FOR SILENT AUCTION DINNER

This dinner has proven very popular over the past 4 yrs and has become a tradition as a primary feature of the Silent Auction.  This year however, we need a cook or cooks to prepare dinner for six at the winning bidder’s choice of date, time and location (holidays excluded).  Father Bob and Joyce Dempsey will serve.  Food and preparations of the dinner will be the cook’s donation to the Holiday Fair fundraiser.  Please call Judy Duffy 526-5820 with questions.

LOAVES & FISHES

FUND COLLECTION

For the past four years, we’ve had our annual special collection in mid-September.  This year however, because of changes in the second collection schedule, the Loaves & Fishes annual collection will be taken on the Columbus Day weekend of Oct 11th & 12th.  With near record home heating costs facing families in our area this winter, this charity fund of our parish will be an even more important resource.  Any “snow-birds” flying (fleeing?) southward before mid-October who wish to make a contribution may do so by leaving their check at the Rectory or sending by mail.  Please put “Loaves & Fishes” on the memo line. Thank you!

ANNUAL PARISH PICNIC SUCCESS

In spite of early morning rain, the spirit of our picnic was not dampened and over 120 parishioners enjoyed the day including a visit from The InterTown record!  We began with Mass in the rustic chapel, which was followed by lots of delicious home cooked food.  There was music, lots of activities for kids and adults, swimming, hiking, boat rides & tubing, and of course relaxing on the beach to soak up some summer sun.  Thank you, to all who volunteered to make the day a big success - most especially to Peter and Jill Metsch, owners of the Newbury News Deli, who did all the cooking.  We missed those of you who could not be there and hope you join us next year.

PIE MAKING FUNDRAISER

We will be making pies on Saturday, Oct 4th in the OLF kitchen starting at 8:30am.  Pies will be sold at Musterfield Farm’s Harvest Day on October 5th, as one of our parish’s fundraisers.  We greatly appreciate all help.  Please, come join in the fun making these pies!  Thank you, Julia Canuto.
